Rionchogu - Pronounced Ree-on-chew is known as, "A Village Despised", caught between the violence and chaos of an impoverished region. It is located in south-west Kenya in the highlands (elevation 5500 ft.) of equitorial Africa. Comprised of about 7,000 people, Riconchogu is part of the Gussi tribe, close to the Sengera market area and is part of a population of about 25,000 people scattered throughout 20 villages. You will not find it on Google maps currently, but can find the general area about 12 kilometers south-west of Ogembo in Kenya.

Bud Potter, now President and CEO of Go And Do Likewise (aka: GADL or Go & Do) set out to experience a new level of his faith and spiritual journey. Feeling it was time to take his devotion to a less self indulgent state and realizing an overwhelming theme in the bible; not to mention the Torah, Koran, as well as the majority of Eastern doctrines; Mr. Potter chose to "Go and Do Likewise" ( Luke 10 - The Good Samaritan).

He set forth to go and do ... finding opportunities to assist the needful forgotten portions of society, with assistance and support from various authorities, in tasks that had become impossible for them to do for one reason or another. It seemed to Bud that as the opportunities came, so did the specialized assistance needed in that instance. He found this to be a product of faith and could see how this mind set could grow exponentially, as others with the same spiritual goal began to gather as a unit. The "roots" of this notion spread it's reach geographically until it crossed continents and seas.
In 2007 Mr. Potter met Kiefa Ontiri, resident of Rionchogu, via the internet. Exchanges began between them which eventually lead to them meeting months later to discuss what had become common goals. Mr. Ontiri stated to Bud Potter that it would not be enough to feed the children. More was needed, or they would only be raising thieves, thugs, and beggars.
A series of projects ensued, giving the people of this city cement foundations for their latrines. Cows were provided which not only gave milk for the family who owned the cow, but the excess milk could be sold for income, and the calves could be sired and given to other families to continue the cycle of stability. Information and education on helping to slow the spread of AIDs was shared. Crops and common trust were sewn. Transportation, via an ambulance and a garage to store it, was established for the sick and elderly who would have otherwise been carted in wheelbarrows to find medical assistance. More times than not, never arriving to their destinations alive. A school was built, offering education to children that will help to foster growth and opportunity to the eager and grateful people of Rionchogu in the next generations and generations following.

Ideally, the shared goal and vision in Rionchogu is to allow the people the opportunity to change their desperate situation. This website is dedicated to raising the funds that will allow Chanel and Joyce to contribute to The Cow Project. BUT, it is Chanel and Joyce's hope that donations will exceed the desired goal so that excess donations will help to pay a portion of the cost of the mission itself, or better yet, future projects that will help this region climb out of the belly of poverty for a long time to come.
Maybe one day "The Village Despised" will become a model for change in Kenya. It is Chanel and Joyce's hope that this challenge will be met and conquered. And on a personal note, they hope to take from this project a newfound sense of self and place in this world. We encourage you to help Chaneland Joyce help Rionchogu.
